about art drop

Art Drop UK connects art with its true home.

Designed to benefit both artists and art lovers, art drop provides an affordable way for art enthusiasts to potentially purchase art. It is also commission-free for artists, helping them avoid often over-inflated gallery fees.

Instead of a traditional auction system, art lovers buy a ticket to a drop, supporting the artist while doing so. But entering isn’t just about paying the entry fee. Potential buyers must answer a skills-based question relating to how/why they can provide a good home for the artwork.

Answers will be anonymised and assessed by our independent judge, who will help the artwork find its true home.

the Art drop story

Art Drop UK was created by husband and wife team artist Ben Brady and art and design journalist Rosie Hilder, who are based in Bristol.

Frustrated by the cost of selling his artwork, Ben was struggling with the difficulty of making a living through art. He came up with the idea for Art Drop while pondering this (and doing the washing up).

Rosie used her background in art journalism and experience judging D&AD New Blood, and working on prestigious branding scheme the Brand Impact Awards to help launch the business, and Art Drop was born.
