ben brady is a falmouth university alumni who specialises in woodcut print and painting.

in the skin of a tiger combines a hand-printed woodcut print, on gampi paper, incorporated onto a carved and painted block - echoing the traditional practices of carved japanese wooden signs known as kanban (看板).

the image is derived from a tale nested amongst the ancient story collection kalila and dimna. in the tale a farmer dresses his mule up like a fierce beast in order for it to feed on his neighbours bountiful crops. The neighbour, thinking it a tiger, leaves it well alone, until one day the game is up. the farmer and mule are left o face the consequences of their deceit.
